Guide
Google Play screenshot sizes (2026)
Google Play accepts a wider resolution range than the App Store, but it still requires specific minimum dimensions, an aspect-ratio cap, and a minimum count for each form factor. This guide lists every accepted size and the small mistakes that get listings rejected.
Last updated May 2026
The general rules
- Long edge: minimum 320 px, maximum 3840 px.
- Aspect ratio: minimum 16:9 (or taller); square and ultra-wide screenshots are rejected.
- Format: PNG (24-bit, no alpha) or JPEG.
- Count: at least 2, up to 8 per form factor.
Phone screenshot sizes
Google doesn’t mandate a single resolution, but the community-standard size is 1080 × 1920 portrait. Modern flagships render natively at 1080 × 2400 (taller); both work.
| Resolution | Use for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1080 × 1920 portrait | Most phone listings | Safe default. Renders sharp on all flagships. |
| 1080 × 2400 portrait | Pixel 9 / Galaxy S24 / OnePlus 12 | Native to most modern Android flagships. |
| 1440 × 2560 portrait | Pro / XL phones | Higher pixel density, optional. |
Tablet screenshot sizes
Tablet listings split into two groups by display class. If you opt into tablet distribution you must provide at least one screenshot per group you target.
| Form factor | Devices | Recommended size |
|---|---|---|
| 10-inch tablet | Pixel Tablet, Galaxy Tab S10+, most modern tablets | 1080 × 1920 (or 1920 × 1080) |
| 7-inch tablet | Compact tablets, Fire HD class | 800 × 1280 (or 1280 × 800) |
Chromebook screenshot size
ChromeOS distribution requires at least one screenshot rendered at large-screen aspect. The standard is 1920 × 1080 landscape, demonstrating responsive layout and (where relevant) tablet-mode behaviour.
Feature graphic and icon
Beyond screenshots, Google Play also requires a high-resolution icon and a feature graphic on every listing.
- App icon: 512 × 512 px PNG, 32-bit with alpha.
- Feature graphic: 1024 × 500 px PNG or JPEG (no alpha). See the feature graphic guide for safe zones and best practices.
Common rejection traps
- Square aspect ratios. Anything wider than 16:9 horizontally or shorter than 16:9 vertically gets rejected.
- Alpha channels in PNG. Play Store rejects screenshots with transparency. Flatten to RGB before export.
- Misleading frames. Adding an iPhone frame to an Android screenshot gets the listing flagged.
- Wrong tablet aspect. Phone screenshots stretched into tablet form factor are visually obvious and ding store quality scores.
Frequently asked
What size are Google Play screenshots in 2026?
Google Play accepts screenshots between 320 px and 3840 px on the long edge. Aspect ratio must be 16:9 or taller. The community standard is 1080 × 1920 portrait for phones, 1080 × 1920 or 1920 × 1080 for tablets, and 1920 × 1080 landscape for Chromebooks.
What is the minimum number of screenshots required?
Google Play requires a minimum of 2 phone screenshots and a maximum of 8. If your app supports tablets, you must provide at least 1 tablet screenshot for each tablet form factor you target.
Can I use the same screenshots for phone and tablet?
No. If you opt into tablet distribution, Google Play requires at least one screenshot specifically rendered for the tablet form factor. Phone screenshots stretched to tablet aspect get visually flagged in store quality reviews.
What file formats does Play Store accept?
PNG (24-bit RGB, no alpha channel) or JPEG. PNG is preferred for any screenshot containing text or UI to keep edges crisp.
Do I need a Chromebook screenshot?
Only if you opt into ChromeOS distribution. If you do, Google requires at least one large-screen screenshot at 1920 × 1080 landscape to demonstrate the responsive layout.
