iPhone screenshot sizes

The App Store groups iPhones by display class. You only need to submit one screenshot set per device class your app supports; Apple uses the largest set you provide as a fallback for newer phones in the same class.

iPad screenshot sizes

Apple’s iPad classes split by display size. Modern iPads accept higher-resolution screenshots; older iPads still accept their native dimensions.

Mac App Store screenshot sizes

The Mac App Store accepts three landscape resolutions. 2880 × 1800 is the modern Retina default and the safest choice for any new submission.

  • 1280 × 800 — baseline, widely accepted.
  • 2560 × 1600 — Retina default for most MacBooks.
  • 2880 × 1800 — high-res Retina (recommended for new listings).

Apple Watch screenshot sizes

Watch listings require screenshots at the exact resolution of the watch face. There is no fallback: ship the right size for every model class you support.

  • Apple Watch Ultra (49mm): 410 × 502
  • Apple Watch Series 10 (46mm): 416 × 496
  • Apple Watch Series 9/10 (45mm): 396 × 484
  • Apple Watch Series 7/8/9 (41mm): 352 × 430

File format and count rules

  • Format: PNG or JPEG, RGB color, 72 DPI.
  • Color profile: sRGB or P3.
  • Count: minimum 1, maximum 10 screenshots per device class.
  • App previews: Up to 3 video previews per device class. Same accepted resolutions as static screenshots.

Rejection traps

  • Wrong dimensions. Off by even a single pixel triggers a manual reject.
  • Status bar mismatches. Screenshots showing a 6:00 carrier signal but a 9:41 clock get flagged.
  • Misleading content. Apple rejects any screenshot that misrepresents the app, including features that don’t exist or copy directly mentioning competitors.
  • Letterboxing. Don’t add black bars to stretch a smaller render to a larger size; submit at the native resolution instead.

Frequently asked

What size are App Store screenshots in 2026?

The 6.9-inch iPhone (iPhone 16 Pro Max) requires 1320 × 2868 portrait or 2868 × 1320 landscape. The 6.7-inch class accepts 1290 × 2796. The 6.1-inch class accepts 1179 × 2556. The iPad Pro 13" requires 2064 × 2752 portrait. See the full table in this guide.

Can I upload only iPhone screenshots and skip iPad?

Only if your app does not support iPad. If your app supports iPad, Apple requires at least one iPad screenshot at the listed resolutions. The same rule applies for Mac and Apple Watch listings.

Why is my App Store screenshot getting rejected?

The most common reason is the screenshot dimensions don’t match one of the accepted resolutions for the device class you submitted. App Store reviewers reject submissions that aren’t a pixel-perfect match. Storeshot presets the canvas to the exact accepted resolution.

How many screenshots can I upload to the App Store?

Apple accepts up to 10 screenshots per device class. The first three are shown by default in search results, so design those for the strongest hook.

What file format does the App Store require?

Apple accepts JPEG and PNG. PNG is recommended for screenshots that contain text or UI — the lossless compression keeps small text legible.
